This is your one-stop site to schedule your Commercial Driver's License (CDL) exam and complete your payment. Once you have scheduled your exam and made your payment, you will receive a confirmation email with your receipt and the details of your scheduled time with a CDL examiner.

Prior to Scheduling your CDL Skills Exam



Prior to scheduling a time to take the CDL Skills Exam, you must obtain the following materials. Please visit the New Mexico MVD website for more guidance on preparing for your CDL written and skills exams.

To schedule an exam, you must provide the following:

  • New Mexico Driver’s License
  • New Mexico Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP)
  • Entry Level Driver Training Certification submitted by your Certified Training Provider
  • Valid Medical Card
  • Exam fee of $225 (Required at scheduling).
  • A vehicle that meets the following requirements:

    • Must be unloaded and in safe, operable condition
    • Have valid insurance
    • Have valid registration for vehicle and trailer
    • Have valid DOT Safety Inspection paperwork for vehicle and trailer
    • Have safety equipment: fire extinguisher, 3 reflective triangles, and fuses

Scheduling your CDL Exam



Exams are scheduled by appointment only and must be scheduled at least one week in advance.

  1. Register and Pay for your test using the form below. 
  2. You will receive a confirmation email and receipt directly after scheduling and paying for your exam. 
  3. You will receive a reminder email the day of the exam.

Cancellations and Rescheduling


  • Exams require one week advance notification to cancel or reschedule.
  • If you arrive missing any of the required documents, your exam will be cancelled and is not eligible for a refund and you will have to pay to reschedule
  • If NMJC cannot meet your testing needs, please visit the New Mexico MVD website for alternate Exam Providers

In the Event of a Truck Failure


 
You will need to reschedule your exam and the fee to reschedule will be $225.

Late Policy



You must arrive at the exam site at least 15 minutes before your test time. Your exam will be cancelled with no refund if you arrive 15 minutes after your scheduled test time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to schedule my CDL exam?
  1. You will need to have your training records posted within the FMCSA training system (TPR) before an exam can be scheduled.

  2. You will also need a copy of your CDL Learners Permit (COP), Regular Driver’s License, and DOT Medical Card.

 

What can I expect on exam day?
 
  1. Expect the examiner to ask you for your Regular Driver’s License and CDL Learner’s Permit. (COP)

  2. Expect to complete all 3 phases of the exam.

How long does it take to finish the CDL exam?
The exam takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete.
Can I request a specific examiner for my exam?
No, you are assigned an examiner at random.
What happens if my exam is cancelled due to inclement weather?

Your exam will be rescheduled at no additional cost to you.

What if I cannot make my scheduled exam time?
  1. If you do not provide a 48-hour notice of exam cancellation, you will be charged for the exam and no refunds will be provided.

  2. You will have to reschedule your CDL exam for a later time at your own expense. 

How many attempts do I have to complete the CDL exam?
  1. After the first fail: You must wait 7 days before retaking the exam.

  2. After the second fail: You must again wait 7 days before retaking the exam.

  3. After the third fail: You must wait 1 calendar year before retaking the exam.

What forms do I need to fill out?
  1. You must fill out the Commercial Drivers License Skills Test Form and attach it to the intake form on this page.
